The A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications presents an exhibition “O&A Florenskie. Postcards and envelopes. Items of mail of 1998-2006” in the project “Mailartissimo – 2006”.
Annual project " Mailartissimo" has started in the museum in 2004 to acquaint Russians with mail-art , many known artists have been involved, among them - Olga and Alexander Florenskie. Cooperation with them has developed into the separate exhibition.
The artists have developed own kinds of items of mail: Olga have invented an author’s photo card where the tablet with the address is organically entered directly in the photo; and Alexander created the traditional lengthened envelopes decorated with original drawing with text comments.
During several years the artists have been sending letters and cards regularly to their daughter Kate, and also to each other. Therefore the exhibition in the Central Museum of Communications is an original mail - art excursion on interesting places of cities of the world.
The exhibition of the project “Mailartissimo – 2006” continues the tradition of prechristmas events in the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications, devoted to the mail-art. The mail - art is a direction of the modern art in which pieces of art turn to the post messages.
